Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Announced

Posted by Adrian Nicol

Just when you thought you'd hunted them all...

As I'm sure you're all aware, the Monster Hunter series is rather well liked here in Japan - the last PSP title, "Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G", set a new record for PSP sales at 3.6 million, while the Wii title, "Monster Hunter Tri", earned its (temporary) place in the record books as the highest-selling third party Wii game in Japan and the coveted 40/40 from Famitsu.
All in all a fairly popular IP, and today Capcom announced the next game in the Monster Hunter series - "Monster Hunter Portable 3rd". If you've an interest, check the promo video below. I'll wait, it's not long...

From the looks of things Capcom's really put some work into the town and various battle fields. The town seems much more heavily populated and lively, while the battle fields are suitably spectacular and varied. And for all the Monster Hunter fans out there, don't you worry, the weapons are still outlandishly huge. Capcom's obviously spent a lot of time designing interesting new weapons and armour sets, so there'll be plenty to collect, and they look pretty good. It also looks like you'll be able to take up to 2 Felynes with you when you solo it, so at least you'll have someone to cheer you on when you're whacking buggery out of monsters.
Head over to this article in Gigazine if you'd like to see a few screenshots.

Not too much more to tell you at this point. It's coming in 2010 at a date yet to be specified. Time to bate that breath, Monster Hunter fans.
