My Little Fighter Minigame in Yakuza 4

Posted by Adrian Nicol

Just stumbled across a spot of info on the 龍が如く4 (Ryu ga Gotoku 4 - Yakuza 4 if it's ever released overseas) official site regarding an interesting minigame for Taiga, the hulking great bloke swinging motorcycles in the promo video. It seems he runs a bit of a martial arts dojo, and can take on a group of disciples (there were 4 on the site, all very distinctive, including one young bloke with a luchador-style tiger mask) and train them up to eventually become martial arts champions.

According to the official site, this minigame is a bit like a My Little Fighter-style character development game. You take on a disciple, decide his training schedule (which will be affected by things like your relationship with the student and his current health), select moves and techniques for him, go out drinking to improve your relationship, have him compete in tournaments, and use the fight money to improve your dojo, all with the eventual goal of winning the championship.
But it doesn't stop there! Once your disciple is champion, you can compete in underground tag-team fights (as Taiga) with your disciple for fame and glory!

Until we get our hands on the game today, I can't really say how deep this minigame will be, but from the description it definitely sounds like a lot of fun. Check out our live stream of the game this evening, or a video of the session to be posted shortly after. Hopefully we'll have some footage of this minigame for you.
